A note about stances: In each of the stances in this
form (that's right -- all of them) the chest will face N.
Direction | Movement | Stance | Action |
N | Ready | Feet together | "look to heaven" (as in Gwang-Gae hyung) |
W | Left 90* | L back | Double forearm guarding blocks (middle level) |
W | Lift Rf -> L-knee | Crane | Push both fists upward, striking toward W |
E | without dropping the Rf | R low side kick
E | <Drop Rf> | Horse | R knifehand strike (L fist chambered at R hip) |
E | Horse | L parallel punch
N | Horse | Scissor blocks (L low block, R middle block)
N | Horse | Scissor blocks (R low block, L middle block)
N | Horse | Middle wedging blocks (with radius side of forearms)
N | Horse | Chamber the R-fist to the R-hip and cover with the left open hand
N | Horse | R middle punch
(L open hand is palm down above the R-elbow, guarding) |
|
N | Horse | Chamber the L fist to the L-hip and cover with the right open hand
E | Horse | Double parallel punches <Yell!>
E | Cross Lf over and in front of Rf, toward E | L x'd over R | R low hammerfist into the L open hand
(Note: This could also serve as a low inverted forearm block) |
E | Step out with the Rf toward E | R back | Pole block |
E | Pull Lf -> Rf | Feet together | (crossing the right arm over the left...)
Double elbow strikes (these are done at shoulder level) <Slowly & Exhaling> |
W | Lf toward W | L back
<stomp!> |
Simultaneously do:
L low forearm block (to W) R high forearm block (to E) |
W | Cross Rf over and in front of Lf, toward W | R x'd over L | L low hammerfist into the R open hand
(Note: This could also serve as a low inverted forearm block) |
W | Lf toward W | L back | Low ridgehand guarding blocks
(i.e. like "low knifehand guarding blocks", but the left hand is inverted.) |
This marks the middle point of pattern Po-Eun. From here the pattern
repeats all of the motions listed above, but is mirrored for the opposite
side.
That is, you finish the form by repeating all of the above motions,
but do them to the opposite sides from which they were done before.
Accordingly, you must also do them with the opposite hands/feet that you
used above. So, the second half of the pattern will begin with:
Direction | Movement | Stance | Action |
E | Right (180*) | R back stance | Double forearm guarding blocks. (middle level) |
And the form will end with the following three movements:
Direction | Movement | Stance | Action |
E | Rf toward E | R back
<stomp!> |
Simultaneously do:
R low forearm block (to E) L high forearm block (to W) |
E | Cross Lf over and in front of Rf, toward E | L x'd over R | R low hammerfist into the L open hand
(Note: This could also serve as a low inverted forearm block) |
E | Rf toward E | R back | Low ridgehand guarding blocks
(i.e. like "low knifehand guarding blocks", but the left hand is inverted.) |
N | Rf -> Lf | Feet together | Ready |
